This is pretty self explanatory !! I love making and creating burgers. I am a total burger snob to say the least. Basically all this wonderful burger is, is just a fantastic meatloaf recipe made into a burger with wonderfully spicy Swiss sauce and topped with ham. You could also use ground chicken as this is just basically a knock off of a yummy cordon Bleu recipe.. I just love burgers. Love creating them almost as much as I like EATING THEM. Burgerr❤️❤️❤️
1lb meatloaf mix ( beef/pork combo)
1 egg beaten
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 med onion grated
2 cloves garlic grated
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
2 tablespoons worsterchishire sauce
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup cream
2 tablespoon hot sauce ( franks)
2 pieces of stale bread ( soaked in milk and then squeezing milk out of bread to crumble in meatloaf mixture)
8 slices maple honey ham
4 bulky rolls or any other burger rolls you like
Chopped Green onion for garnish
Preheat oven on 350
On a baking sheet, place ham slices on sheet and bake for 5 mins just to heat and brown a little turning ham over to the other side after 2 1/2 mins. Once ham is fully heated through and a nice little golden color has started to form, remove and set aside on a plate and cover with a piece of tin foil( keeps it warm while burgers are cooking).
In a small sauce pan over med heat, melt butter. Once butter starts to melt whisk in flour, keep whisking about 30 secs till flour is cooked out. Add cream and whisk till sauce starts to thicken and coats the back of a wooden spoon. Next add hot sauce and Swiss cheese, dash of black pepper and Keep whisking till sauce is fully combined.
In a med sized bowl, add beef and pork combo, breadcrumb, smoked paprika worsterchishire sauce, grated onion, garlic, milk soaked bread, beaten egg, dash of salt and pepper and mix. Mix burger mix well but don’t overly mix. Form 4 patties with your hands. Make sure to form your burgers thicker on the outside and thinner in the middle. This ensures that your burger will be nice and flat as burgers plump when cooked. ( another Rachael Ray tip I have learned over the years) 👍
Heat pan over med high heat and add some olive oil. Add patties and cook each patty for 4 to 5 mins on each side( little bit longer if you desire a more well done burger patty) remove from heat and place each burger on the bottom part of the bun, drizzle cheese sauce, add 2 slices of cook ham , top of bun and serve.
Note: I had actually gotten this idea from “Rachael Ray”. Before adding bread to a meatloaf mix, pour some milk in a bowl and add your bread slices. Once bread has soaked up the milk, squeeze all of the milk out of your bread slices and crumble the wet bread in your mix. This helps keep the meatloaf nice and moist while cooking.
Cooking time: 15 mins ( sauce, ham, burgers)
